Themes.com | How to buy and sell themes

So you want to know how it all works? We're here to help.

Themes.com has created a marketplace that brings theme buyers together with theme designers. Designers upload and list a theme for sale. Theme buyers browse through our themes by Category, by Style, by Platform, or by looking at the top themes created by our website's designers. When you find a theme that you like, click on the "Buy" button for the theme. It is that simple.

Creating a New Account

While you can browse our marketplace without signing up, you must become a member to resell or download a theme.

  1. Click here to create an account for free
  2. You will be asked  to enter some personal information and username.
  3. Enter a valid email address. An email will be sent to you to confirm your membership
  4. Upon clicking a link within an email, you will land on your Account Settings page.
  5. Tell the community more about yourself. Detailed pages get indexed by search engines and theme buyers are more likely to buy from Designers that have real profiles.

Buying a Theme

When you find a theme you like, you can easily buy it using existing credits, PayPal, or any credit card. Credit card payments are processed via PayPal, though you don't have to have a PayPal account to pay (simply choose the "Pay as Guest" option on Paypal check out screen).

  1. Find a theme that you suits your needs
  2. Make sure you read the Comments and FAQs provided by the designer for details and support
  3. Click the "Buy" button from the upper right corner of the Theme's profile page
  4. Choose between paying with credit cards, PayPal, or existing credits within your account
  5. Process the payment securely
  6. Download your selected theme direct to your desktop
  7. Return to Themes.com and give feedback on your selected purchase. Peer Reviews make us a better community.

Selling Website Themes

Want to earn money from your creative work? Want to sell themes while you are sleeping? We have embraced the concept that allows you to build a theme once and sell it to many customers, giving you recurring revenue for your designs. Here's how you sell themes on Themes.com

  1. Become a member (see above)
  2. From your 'MY ACCOUNT' dashboard or from the drop-down menu attached to your username, select 'UPLOAD A THEME'
  3. Provide details about your theme (e.g., type, style, attributes, description)
  4. Upload files relating to your themes (i.e., download files, screenshots, thumbnail)
  5. Set the price and usage restrictions
  6. Submit your design for approval

Our Themes Review Team will review designs within 24 to 48 hours (often much less) to ensure that it meets our standards. Once reviewed, you will receive either "Notice of Approval" that your theme has been accepted, or you will be asked to make modifications by the Reviewer. Assuming you have been approved, here's what happens next:

  1. Return to Themes.com to add FAQs to your design. This is a great way to offer Support and answer many of the questions that buyers may have.
  2. Promote your theme for sale to your network (and we will do the same)
  3. When you promote your theme with our Affiliate Program, you not only can drive potential customers to your design, but if they choose to buy a different theme, you can be compensated for their purchase regardless.
  4. Answer any questions and post feedback within the Comments

Getting a Marketing Name

Our Marketing Names are an innovative way for you to promote your theme design business. Marketing Names are short, brandable keyword concepts attached as sub-domains to the Themes.com brand. Thus, a designer could lease (monthly) a name like "WordPress.Themes.com", "Best.Themes.com" or even "Restaurant.Themes.com" and use this name for their very own.

  1. Find a Marketing Name that is right for your design practice or theme that you are wanting to sell
  2. Choose a name that is descriptive, relevant, and might generate search traffic
  3. Lease your Marketing Name using PayPal
  4. Point your Marketing Name to your website, your directory page, or a freshly-created splash page or mini-site
